Selling at an Auction House
Sometimes the item you bring may sell better either at a local auction house, at a specialist auction or sometimes the item is special enough to be sold at one of the top London auction houses.
In my many years working as a cataloguer, researcher & valuer for a top northern auction house and my countless years attending auction houses and fairs around the country and indeed around the world, i have seen a great number of special and exciting items being sold.
Why use an auction house rather than eBay?
- Trade buyers & specialists attend relevant auctions where as they may not be viewing eBay at the time of listing
- The item is something that needs to be seen and examined by the buyer for fine repairs or the smallest of damage for example a Beswick animal
- Many people bid at the last moment on eBay hoping to get the item for as little as possible and on this basis it doesn't give much opportunity for the bidder to over bid, an experienced auctioneer can work the crowd and doesn't stop the selling until he has run out off bids
- where items are grouped in boxed lots that would be too big and possibly too expensive to post
- When items do not meet eBays criteria
- Furniture is classed as standard and the delivery costs prevent the price from achieving its top potential
- When the item is too big to be stored at our shop
Where to sell an item is a case of 'swings and roundabouts'. remember we work on a commission basis, so the more we get for you the more we earn in commission. Its a win win situation for the seller
We take care of everything from research to delivery which could mean taking the item over 200 miles to the chosen auction house
So basically all you have to do is drop off your items and wait for your cheque
